Information About Our Program

seekThe ministry of SEEK was born from the desire to provide support and encouragement for home schooling mothers through weekly Bible study and fellowship. In addition, SEEK also provides enrichment classes for homeschooled children that are educational in nature and enhance the learning that is already taking place in the home.

SEEK meets at Colonial Baptist Church from 9AM to noon on Thursdays.  Each morning begins with an opening assembly, which includes praise songs and a short devotion given by Scott Wylie, the Pastor of Children’s Ministries here at Colonial.  Two 70-minute group sessions are offered each Thursday.

All groups offered are supplemental to what is being taught in the home and are meant for enrichment purposes only. Parents are responsible for making sure their participation in SEEK complies with state law governing home schools. The groups offered vary from semester to semester, and are determined by the willingness of group members to lead. Members lead most of the groups.  However, we also have people who volunteer their time and talents to lead.

Since SEEK is a cooperative, the weekly attendance and service of one parent is required in order for a family to participate.  Parents are required to remain on campus while SEEK is meeting and to serve as a group leader, assistant, or nursery worker during one of the two sessions.

Fees include a $12 registration fee per person to participate in the program.  This applies to every individual attending on Thursday mornings, up to a maximum of five in a family.  Families with more than five family members attending will only be charged a registration fee for the first five.  In addition, each group costs from about $5 to $50.   The nursery/preschool fee for children under 5 years old is $25 per semester.  Group and nursery/preschool fees are used to purchase curriculum and materials that will be needed for each child.

Review the New Member FAQs and the  Policies and Procedures Manual  for additional information, including attendance and service requirements, and the current semester’s Group Descriptions for a general idea of the types of groups offered.
