General Rules:

  • The Grand Prix is open to Sparks and T&T clubbers.
  • Clubbers may build with the help of an adult. The Clubber should complete everything that a child can do. Adults may help with the use of power tools, but the child should do the sanding, painting, etc. Design will be judged with this in mind. (The level of adult involvement is usually pretty obvious.)

Car Specifications:

  1. Only new cars may participate. All cars must be started after the start of the AWANA year.
  2. The Official AWANA Car Kit, including the axels, wheels and wood block must be used. Materials from the kit may not be replaced, but additional materials may be added, as long as they do not cause car to exceed specifications.
  3. Inspection is required prior to the race. Cars must pass inspection for weight, size and compliance with the rules. No adjustments may be made to a car once it has passed inspection. Cars which pass inspection will be impounded and will remain in the care of race officials until the conclusion of the race.

  6. Axle slots do not need to be used. If you drill your own axle holes, the wheelbase may not exceed 4 1/2 inches, and wheels may not extend beyond the front or back of the car.
  7. Clearance is 3/8” minimum from the bottom of the wheel to the lowest part of the car body in order to clear the track.
  8. Wheel shape, width or diameter may not be altered. (Light sanding to remove rough edges is allowed.) Wheel bearings, bushings, washers, and springs are prohibited.
