Information About Our Program

The ministry of SEEK was born from the desire to provide support and encouragement for home schooling mothers through weekly Bible study and fellowship. In addition, SEEK also provides enrichment classes for homeschooled children that are educational in nature and enhance the learning that is already taking place in the home.

SEEK meets at Colonial Baptist Church from 9AM to noon on Thursdays.  Each morning begins with an opening assembly, which includes praise songs and a short devotion given by Scott Wylie, the Pastor of Children’s Ministries here at Colonial.  Two 70-minute group sessions are offered each Thursday.

Our calendar year is broken into two thirteen week semesters, meeting from August to November in the fall and February to May in the spring.

SEEK operates as a cooperative, which requires the service and participation of all its members. Parents are required to serve one of the hours as a group leader, assistant or nursery worker. Parents have the option of attending a Bible study the other hour, or using the hour as personal time, but must remain on the church campus.

All groups offered are supplemental to what is being taught in the home and are meant for enrichment purposes only. Parents are responsible for making sure their participation in SEEK complies with state law governing home schools. The groups offered vary from semester to semester, and are determined by the willingness of group members to lead. Members lead most of the groups.  However, we also have people who volunteer their time and talents to lead.

There is a $35 registration fee each semester per family to participate in SEEK.  In addition, each group charges a fee per person that varies from about $5 to $50, depending on the group being offered.  Nursery fees for each child aged 5 and younger are $40 per semester.
