The Isaiah 40 L.I.N.C.S. Christian Home School Honor Society is the Pi Chapter of the Eta Sigma Alpha National Home School Honor Society. Our Honor Society, for students in 7th-12th grades, focuses on Leadership, Integrity, Networking, Community Service, and Scholarship.

SCHEDULE:
The National Honor Society meets the second Tuesday of each month, August through May.

Eta Sigma Alpha National Home School Honor Society

Purpose Statement:
The purpose of Eta Sigma Alpha National Home School Honor Society shall be to recognize and encourage scholarship among home school students. To achieve this purpose, Eta Sigma Alpha National Home School Honor Society shall provide opportunities for the development of leadership and service. Eta Sigma Alpha shall encourage the development of an intellectual climate that will stimulate the exchange of ideas and ideals, foster scholarship, and promote academic excellence. Eta Sigma Alpha shall also advocate homeschooling as a viable and successful educational methodology and act as a liasion for homeschooling to the general public, colleges/universities, and the media."

Mandatory Requirement for ESA membership:
A test score of 1800 (SAT) or 26 (ACT) or 120 (Verbal/Math – PSAT) or a 90% on the composite/total battery on the IOWA, Stanford, California, MAT, or other nationally normed standardized achievement tests is required for ESA membership.

Leadership-Integrity-Networking-Community-Scholarship

Introduction

The National Home School Honor Society is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding home school students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service and integrity. 

Selection criteria

Membership will be open to any Christian home school student in grades 7-12 who meets the required national score, exhibits integrity in leadership, and participates in community service and/or church ministry. Membership can be renewed each year when scores, reports of service or ministry, along with an adult recommendation are submitted by due date each year.

Scholarship:

Student must exhibit high scholastic level by one of the following:

  • SAT score minimum of 1800
  • ACT score minimum of 26
  • PSAT score of 180 (120 if only verbal/math)
  • 90% minimum on one of the following nationally standardized achievement tests:
    • CAT (Total Battery)
    • Iowa Test of Basic Skills (Composite Total; not "core total")
    • MET
    • Stanford Achievement Test
    • Woodcock-Johnson III (Total Achievement)

Service:

This quality is defined through voluntary contributions made by the student to ministry within the church and/or community service. Student must complete a minimum of 10 hours each semester (20 hours each year). Please keep accurate records of your volunteer hours.

Integrity:

Students must be recommended by two non-family adults. One recommendation must be from a church leaders or staff member who has regular contact with the student. (Print 2 copies of 3rd page for new members). Renewal of membership will require only one additional adult recommendation (different from previous years).

Christian:

Student must be attending local Bible-believing church. Parent and student must sign the "Statement of Faith."

Membership

Membership can be renewable each school year. See criteria above. There will be a membership fee of $10 per year per student. End-of-Year Reports regarding church ministry and/or community service hours must be submitted in the Spring in order to receive the certificate.

Two meetings will be scheduled annually, the Induction Ceremony and the Recognition Ceremony. Attendance at meetings is mandatory. An optional Informational Meeting is held at the beginning of the school year. Dates of meetings will be determined each year and announced after deadline date. Group project and/or other activities may be scheduled at later dates according to interest.
